Shakti Counselling Services is a service offered by Shakti Community Council Inc., a national not-for-profit community organisation that has its origins in New Zealand since 1995. We specialise in culturally competent support services for Asian, African and Middle Eastern immigrant communities in New Zealand. We provide Counselling, Safety & Well-being Services in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch, besides other regions. Internationally, we offer online video counselling.

In New Zealand we provide Counselling, Safety & Well-being Services in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch. Internationally, we offer online video counselling.
We provide the following services:
Counselling
Counselling helps you understand the issues you are facing and helps you recognise patterns of thoughts and experiences that promote feelings associated with
•Unhappiness •Feelings of being unsafe •Sadness •Depression •Anger •Frustration •Distress •Confusion •Grief • Trauma, etc.
If not addressed, these feelings may lead to you losing control of your emotions and life, and in some instances, may keep you in a situation of being emotionally and physically unsafe.
If you are physically unsafe or feeling unsafe, Shakti can provide you with sensitive family violence intervention and casework support as well as other well-being services. Click here for more information: www.shakti.org.nz for help and support.

Shakti accepts sessions funded by Work & Income & ACC in New Zealand.
Free court approved & referred safety programmes for women and children
Shakti is contracted by the Ministry of Justice, New Zealand, to provide Adult Protected Person’s Programme and Children’s Safety Programme in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch.
If you are a recipient of a Protection Order, or a lawyer or professional engaged in supporting victims with Protection Orders you can request the Court for the Shakti Protected Person’s Programme or email [email protected] to make a request.
Adult Protected Persons Safety Programmes – Strengthening Safety and Supporting Safety
This programme is for women who are victims of family violence, seeking Protection Order or been granted Protection Order by a New Zealand Court.
We offer complete assessment, safety planning and appropriate psycho-educational safety programmes in individual and group settings for women of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origins.
Children’s Safety Programme
This programme is for children (up to attaining the age of 18) who are under a Protection Order issued by a New Zealand Court. We provide assessment (mother and child), safety planning and individual or group Safety Programme for children of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origins.
